'Louis Vuitton - Marc Jacobs' Exhibition
Curator Pamela Golbin takes fashion journalist Louise Roe to the tour of the 'Louis Vuitton - Marc Jacobs' exhibition.
Louis Vuitton Marc Jacobs is a story of two personalities and their contributions to the world of fashion : Louis Vuitton, founder of the house of Louis Vuitton in 1854, and Marc Jacobs, its artistic director since 1997. Two innovators , both rooted in their respective centuries, advanced an entire industry. Two creators , each in his own language, appropriated cultural codes and trends in order to shape the history of contemporary fashion.

Louis Vuitton - Marc Jacobs.......
"Louis Vuitton - Marc Jacobs", an exhibition at Les Arts Décoratifs, Paris, from March 9th to September 16th, 2012.
This exhibition tells the stories of two men, Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs (artistic director of LV), and will highlight their contributions to the fashion world. How did they succeed in taking the pulse of their respective periods to innovate and take an entire industry forward? How did these two personalities, each with their own language, appropriate cultural phenomena and codes to write the history of contemporary fashion?

Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2012....
Kim Jones, Louis Vuitton's new Mens Style Director delivered a great sophomore collection for Fall/Winter 2012. A 12-metre-wide globe suspended like a hot air balloon hung over a runway - which was then covered with a photographic parquet of tatami matting. The garments were an extraordinary showcase of exceptional execution, detail and technique.

Cruising through time.....
It is probably London but it could be New York or Paris. It is probably 2011 but it could be 1972. Louis Vuitton's online magazine, New Now, in collaboration with Matthew Donaldson, offers a new perspective of Louis Vuitton's 2012 Cruise collection, stretching time and capturing each exquisite dance movement at a thousand frames per second.

Heidi Mount: InVitro........

I totally love this fashion short neo-noir film, Invitro directed by siblings Santiago and Mauricio Sierra. Supermodel Heidi Mount plays the role of a few impeccably styled mannequins held captive behind a store's glass window. Styled by Patrick Mackie the shop-window mannequins look dressed to the nine in intricate Chinoiserie inspired ensembles from Louis Vuitton in their futuristic world.
“It’s about desirability and unattainability," adds Mackie, referencing the fragile glass divide that keeps the luxe fantasy just out of reach.

Lara Stone for Louis Vuitton Spring 2010....

Thank God, the lovely Supermodel Lara Stone is taking over Madonna's spot by becoming the new face of Louis Vuitton starting Spring 2010. Here is the first image from the campaign which was photographed by Steven Meisel.

“After our successful collaboration with Madonna, we are very happy to be working once again with Steven Meisel on the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2010 fashion campaign,” says Artistic Director Marc Jacobs. “Because the collection loosely took its cues from the idea of the New Age traveler, we decided to create a green, outdoorsy set that would evoke a spirit of peace and love. To model the clothes, we wanted a modern, iconic, sexy beauty… It had to be Lara Stone.”
