'Visions Couture' Daphne Guinness.....

Iconic Daphne Guinness stars as the model and voice of 'Visions Couture' a collection of short surreal fashion films directed by Nick Knight... That are part of the unique interactive and abstract three-dimensional sculptures currently seen in windows of Paris' Le Printemps department store until 24 March 2012.

Transformed into a high fashion High-Priestess, Daphne features some of Spring/Summer 2012's finest from designers Gareth Pugh, Rick Owens, Junya Watanabe, Maison Martin Margiela, and Paco Rabanne... Including pieces from Guinness' own legendary wardrobe (I mean... who has a better closet then her???)

The films also feature Daphne Guinness sing and great narration (I find her voice to be enchanting!) of a quote from Dante's 'Inferno' against her beautiful operatic accompaniment... Always so eloquently spoken, I just love the way in which she delivery words! (I Wish I could have her read to me every night!)

"Day was departing, and the embrowned air released the animals that are on earth from their fatigues; and I the only one made myself ready to sustain the war, both of the way and likewise of the woe, which memory that errs not shall retrace. O Muses, O high genius, now assist me! O memory, that didst write down what I saw, here thy nobility shall be manifest! And I began....."

Daphne Guinness Just because.....

Well, I'm in a Daphne Guinness mood today... so here's a great interview of one of the industry's most influential characters! She speaks to Alex Fury on aspects of her life, appreciation of art, beauty and luxury.

"People Love labels!" -Daphne Guinness

Daphne Guinness- Contra Mundum.......

Could Daphne Guinness be anymore fascinating....??? Documentary filmmaker Brennan Stasiewicz got to peek inside Guinness’ posh Fifth Avenue apartment and capture intimate moments as she was preparing for her Met Gala performance piece back in May. "Daphne’s Window," is a beautifully narrated short film where she both refers to herself as “completely normal” and ummmm “shy!” (Two characteristics I would definitely not have called her. She must have Michael Jackson syndrome....) because those are traits not commonly associated with people wearing lilac feathered couture gowns designed by McQueen’s Sarah Burton, and stand on display in the storefront window of Barneys New York flagship store..... But I guess Daphne Guinness heiress of the Guinness fortune has always been a bit of an enigma!

Modestly wearing Contra Mundum, (Daphne’s 1.76 million dollar platinum and diamond glove) by jeweller Shaun Leane she so eloquently described the way in which fashion can be used as armor to make someone who is sort of tiny and feeble, a little more frightening. Truly a fashion Icon, this video had be captivated since the start of the ticking metronome and sound of her voice.... I loved the quote, "When I start doing something visual it's because I can't express it in words!" (true words I live by!)

"I don't think about myself in the world... Me is nothing, I'm just someone living in 2011! I just am... What I am!" -Daphne Guinness
