RODARTE Casting Call........

I love this casting video from backstage at the Rodarte Spring/Summer 2012 Fitting.... The honest way in which the models answered the questions is just hysterical. Top girls like Jourdan Dunn, Lindsey Wixson, Karlie Kloss and many of the most sought after girls in the industry, were sat down for a good old game of 20 questions.

With responses like "Who are The Beatles?" "What does this mean L..A?" and Lindsay telling us she only wants to learn to fly just incase the world is coming to an end! Shows us that they are really just like us.... only WAY better looking!

New young talent.....

Patrik Ervell and Simon Spurr are among the top ten designers up for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund with a grand prize for new young talent. The prize includes cash and advise from some of the fashion industry’s most prominent insiders. Ervell, Spurr and the other eight designers are featured in Vogue’s November issue. Covers everything from Ervell’s college days with Rodarte’s sister team to his initial brush with fashion because of college friend Humberto Leon. Spurr continues to speak of his influences as an English designer as well as his work for Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren and tenure under Hedi Slimane for YSL.

Primitive futurism.....

This collection, which married primitivism to the sisters' ongoing interest in futurism, was one of Rodarte's most fully realized. If the silhouettes were familiar, the awe-inspiring construction of the garments represented the apotheosis of the techniques—in knitwear, printing, draping, and pastiche—that the Mulleavys have been refining season after season. Or, as Laura put it: "We ruined everything." In other words, they aged, painted, burned, shredded, sandpapered, and otherwise destroyed all of the materials—including grungy scraps of plaid, plastic, cheesecloth, wool cobweb, crystals, macramé, leather, and more—until they bore only traces of what they had been originally. (Even their footwear collaborator Nicholas Kirkwood's vertiginous heels are now so extravagantly studded that they barely resemble shoes—as a couple of teetering models discovered to their peril.)

OMFG! Target introduces Rodarte.....

Designing sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy will be bringing their ethereal sensibility to a wider world when Target introduces Rodarte in December as part of its Go International series of limited collections.
The 55-piece Rodarte line for Go International will launch at most Target stores nationwide and on target.com on Dec. 20, and will be available through Feb. 6. While it may be hard to imagine translating Rodarte’s hand-wrought designs for the mass market, Target claims to have stayed true to the spirit of the luxury-priced label.

“What you’ll notice is an amazing eye for detail,” said Joshua Thomas, a Target spokesman. “It’s very feminine, yet very modern. The collection incorporates a rich mix of patterns and fabrications and everything from sequins and bows to faux fur. The key with Rodarte is layering.”

Prices for Target’s Go International Rodarte collection will range from $9.99 for knee-highs to $79.99 for a leopard print jacket.

Rodarte, which is known for evening clothes, designed “a variety of great holiday dresses,” Thomas said. “There are stand-alone pieces and pieces that can be worn together to create an ensemble by layering different patterns, textures and prints.”
